Stuttgart/Darmstadt:

The GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme and Software AG cooperate

in the digital development of machine landscapes

Access machine data and display it on the dashboard via the cloud:

to Software AG's IoT platform

In order to implement their digital roadmap, many machine operators are faced with the challenge of networking machines from a wide range of manufacturers in order to make machine data accessible and aggregate it into valuable data for their applications. GPS Stuttgart offers a secure single point of access (SPA) to a wide range of machines with its SICON.OS IoT operating system, regardless of the manufacturer and whether the machines are new or existing.

SICON.OS offers connectors for almost all machine types in order to provide them with a digital identity and thus a basis for new business models in the shortest possible time.

The data from the machine is pre-aggregated, filtered and stored as so-called smart data directly in the Edge software. If necessary, additional sensors can be used to add further information from the process to the machine data.

The data is immediately available locally either as a standardised dashboard, as a user-specific visualisation or via a documented interface (API).

Process performance, machine availability and the number of parts produced can thus be quickly recorded and, in the event of deviations, a rapid response can be made with the help of digital assistants.

Optional cloud connectors also allow the data to be securely used globally. With the Cumulocity IoT platform, Software AG offers a scalable solution for easy visualisation and further use of the data. For this purpose, the Stuttgart-based company and Software AG have entered into a cooperation agreement.

Networking promises cost savings of up to 50 per cent in the short term and enables the introduction of new business models in the long term.

"An ideal complement to our IoT competencies; GPS taps into and aggregates process-related data from heterogeneous machine landscapes and Software AG offers the cloud platform for this worldwide," says Thomas Holecek, Managing Director of GPS.

Messe Motek

Interessierte können sich im Rahmen der Messe Motek in Stuttgart from 5 to 8 October 2021 at the GPS in Hall 1, Booth 1620 (Arena of Integration, exhibit 4).

GPS Gesellschaft für Produktionssysteme was founded as a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation in the mechanical engineering metropolis of Stuttgart. It collects data from production and makes it easy to understand and use in order to increase performance in production.

Software AG is the software pioneer of the connected world. Since 1969, the company has helped more than 10,000 companies and organisations connect people, businesses, systems and devices through software. With the help of Integration & APIs, IoT & Analytics and Business & IT Transformation, Software AG paves the way to the connected enterprise; its products are the key to unhindered data flow and smooth collaboration. In the 2020 financial year, the company had around 4,700 employees in more than 70 countries and generated annual revenue of more than €800 million.
